Bricks of Bengal is a film and photo series developed for JKPS and Partners International that highlights the human rights issue of bonded labour and modern day slavery in West Bengal, India. Debt slavery is one of the most common forms of modern day slavery and occurs when individuals are forced to pay off their debt to a lender with physical labour. This often spans across generations and even reaches children as well, who may never have a chance to go to school as a result. This observational documentary takes a look a several families who are working off their debt inside brick kilns.
